What is Reiki?

Reiki (“Universal Life Energy”) was developed in Japan in 1921 by Mikao Usui and brought to the United States in 1938.

The technique is based on the belief that there is an energetic flow in and through all living things. When this energy is low or blocked, we are more likely to get sick and feel stressed.

Reiki is based on the principle that the therapist will channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

Often known as a spiritual healing practice, Reiki helps each person to discover meaning and purpose in life, often serving as a bridge to a better connection with yourself and others.

What to expect from a session?

Reiki sessions are held in a quiet and comfortable setting at Be One Teach One location or in your own home. While lying fully-clothed on a reclining chair or massage table, the client’s experience is enhanced by soft music, candles and low lighting.

With light touch, usually no more than the weight of a nickel, the practitioner will gently place her hands on multiple locations on the client’s body.
Many of the selected hand locations correspond to centers of energy known as chakras.

You might experience warmth, tingling, and/or movement during a session as the client draws what is needed.

An immediate positive response by clients is almost always expressed. A decrease or elimination of pain is common. Individuals who were previously feeling anxious or stressed often report a high level of relaxation and sense of well-being.

In fact, many clients fall asleep during a treatment! While many benefits are immediately evident, the positive shifts in your rebalanced body may be experienced for days or even weeks afterwards.

How to prepare for your appointment?

You can wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing. Remove your shoes, jewelry, and glasses before your session, and keep your phone switched off or leave it behind.
